2012 Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase


Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled its new Ghost Extended Wheelbase model for the first time at the 14th Auto Shanghai Motor Show on Tuesday, 19 April 2011.

The ultra-luxury saloon, the sixth new model from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, caters for customers who require increased space and comfort without sacrificing Ghost’s unique balance of dynamism and poise.

The award-winning, four-seater Rolls-Royce Ghost has seen outstanding demand since its worldwide launch in 2009. Designed as a vision of simplicity, it is a Rolls-Royce that drives and rides in peerless fashion. Rolls-Royce Ghost Extended Wheelbase takes this principle further, designed as a car to drive or in which to be chauffeured. It will be built to order and is available in only limited numbers for 2011 until full production begins in 2012.

Ghost’s ample interior space is further enhanced in the Extended Wheelbase variant by the addition of 170mm to the car’s wheelbase, but with no detriment to the model’s balanced proportions and stunning contemporary design. Legroom is significantly enhanced with knee-room more than doubled compared to the standard Ghost.


Increased cabin space in the rear passenger compartment and a panoramic sunroof sets new standards for interior ambience and light. Effortless entry and exit for passengers further reinforces Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ pinnacle position in the ultra-luxury segment.

Perbandingan 3 Motor Matic: Yamaha Mio, Honda Vario, dan Suzuki Spin

Yamaha Mio, Honda Vario, dan Suzuki Spin, sekilas memang memiliki teknologi yang sama. Tapi, apakah kita akan mengambil salah satunya tanpa pertimbangan. Ada baiknya kita cermati ulasan perbandingan antara ketiganya berikut ini :
1. Yamaha Mio
Bisa dibilang Mio merupakan bintangnya motor matik di Indonesia. Bagaimana tidak sejak peluncurannya hingga saat ini, penjualan Mio mampu mendongkrak share penjualan Yamaha. Kehadirannya bahkan membuat sang kakak alias Nouvo menjadi kalah populer. Lucunya, meski diperuntukkan untuk kaum hawa, Mio terbukti laris manis dibeli para pejantan tangguh. Kalau mau jujur, Mio berhasil mengedukasi pasar dan membenamkan image bahwa motor matik oke-oke saja digunakan untuk aktivitas sehari-hari.  
Kalaupun ada yang kurang dari sosok Mio adalah faktor tangki bahan bakar yang imut, sehingga membuatnya harus sering mampir ke pompa bensin. Kapasitas tangki Mio menurut buku manual ''cuma'' 3,7 liter — sama dengan bebek Honda. Masalahnya, motor matik cenderung boros karena membutuhkan putaran mesin yang cukup tinggi agar motor bisa bergerak — lebih tinggi dari motor bebek dan motor sport. Selain itu, penyakit bawaan Mio adalah bunyi tikus di sektor roda belakang.

Dari sisi mesin, Mio tidak menyodorkan sesuatu yang baru. Mio dikemas Yamaha dengan harga yang relatif terjangkau — masih di bawah bebek. Dilempar dengan dua varian pada umumnya: spoke wheel dan CW. Berhubung Mio memang si pelopor, wajar bila aksesori dan spare parts-nya bejibun di pasaran. Termasuk racing parts dan pola modifikasi yang bisa diterapkan konsumen pada Mio kesayangannya. Apalagi Yamaha pun membuka kontes modifikasi yang bikin Mio tambah banyak variasi modifikasinya. Dari sisi bengkel, mekanik Yamaha sudah duluan mengenal teknologi CVT sehingga tak perlu khawatir motor ini tidak bisa ''diurus'' oleh bengkel.
2. Honda Vario
Yang satu ini sangat-sangat diwaspadai oleh Yamaha. Maklum, Vario memiliki segalanya untuk meluluhlantakkan dominasi Mio di pasar. Mengusung mesin tipe baru dengan radiator, namun memiliki cc yang lebih kecil di bawah Mio (108 cc). Dengan segala fitur baru yang ditawarkan plus nama besar Honda, pesona produk matik keluaran Honda ini membuatnya ngetop bahkan sebelum motor ini nampak wujudnya di Tanah Air. "Rasa Mio" sangat kental di Honda Vario ini, tetapi ada beberapa tambahan yang merupakan ciri khas Honda disertakan dalam produk matiknya yang pertama di Indonesia ini.
Dari sisi mesin, calon pembeli mesti waspada. Kendati nama besar, jaringan servis Honda tidak perlu diragukan, banyak pengalaman yang tidak mengenakkan setiap kali pabrikan me-launching motor dengan teknologi mesin baru. Ingat kasus MX? Ingat kasus Karisma? Di mana Honda merombak teknologinya dengan meluncurkan Karisma, seketika itu juga komplain bermunculan. Plus satu lagi, teknologi pendingin menggunakan radiator. Terima kasih kepada Yamaha yang sudah membuat konsumen panas-dingin dengan kasus tercampurnya oli dengan air radiator di MX. Waspada.
Diprediksikan nama besar Honda mampu melenyapkan image bahwa motor matik boros bahan bakar. Apalagi dengan cc mesin yang lebih kecil dari Mio, tampaknya Honda memang mengejar irit. Sayangnya, irit tidak lagi irit bila mengingat Honda Vario mengusung mesin baru dengan radiator. Penambahan fitur radiator memang hi-tech, tetapi sekaligus membuat ongkos perawatannya pun bertambah. Belum lagi, Honda terkenal dengan banyak kasus kelangkaan spareparts di pasar (NSR, Tiger, Karisma, Sonic). Hal yang kerap membuat konsumen frustrasi.
Dari sisi kesiapan mekanik, memang tidak perlu ragu. Dengan segala sumber daya yang dimiliki Honda, sanggup membuat mekanik di seluruh jaringan servisnya bisa menangani motor matik. Harga jual Honda memang tidak murah dan paling tinggi di antara pabrikan Jepang lainnya. Vario harganya hampir setara dengan motor bebek. Hal ini tentu bisa menjadi faktor penghambat penjualan Vario nantinya karena dianggap terlalu mahal. Pun begitu, nama besar Honda lagi-lagi sanggup menghipnotis konsumen sehingga label harga berapa pun asal ada logo sayap kepak, tentu bukan masalah.
3. Suzuki Spin
Dibanding kedua kompetitornya, keunggulan Spin cuma satu, kapasitas paling besar 125 cc. Lainnya tergolong biasa saja. Bentuknya juga lebih condong ke Mio. Dengan kapasitas 110 cc saja matik sudah terasa boros bila dibanding bebek, bagaimana bila 125 cc? Ini bisa jadi kelemahan sekaligus keuntungan Spin. Penggila kecepatan, tentu akan memilih Spin yang memiliki kapasitas terbesar.
Poin plus ada di masa servis yang ditawarkan Suzuki, tiga tahun free service dan ganti oli. Ini sangat menguntungkan di masa sulit seperti ini. Belum lagi soal servis dan garansi, Suzuki yang paling andal dari dulu. Berani sekali dan jadi pelopor di antara kompetitor lainnya. Jadi jika konsumen membeli Spin, tidak usah pusing memikirkan servisnya.  Apalagi teknologi mesin Step masih sebelas dua belas dengan Shogun 125 series/Arashi seperti layaknya Mio dengan Vega series/Jupiter series. Tidak menggunakan radiator. Simpel.
